Video and Photo Production Labs @ Wagner
See Promo Video! For additional information and the location of other video editing labs on campus, visit http://digitalcommons.psu.edu
There are 2 digital editing labs within Media Tech's offices at Wagner Annex.
You can reserve space and time in the labs to produce your very own video/audio and photographic projects. A Media Specialist will be on-hand to give a demonstration if desired, answer any questions you may have, and offer you tips and suggestions on how best to utilize the lab space and the equipment that you will be using during production.
The lab space is equipped with a high-end Sony Mini DV video camera, an assortment of light kits, as well as a number of cloth backdrops to give your projects some color. You can also bring in your own backdrops to utilize in the labs. Additionally, you can also bring in your own props to use during your video or photo shoot.
You can use the cloth backdrops in conjunction with your video/photo projects. Some examples include:
-Mock interview in preparation for a job interview
-News Stand-Up for a journalism class
-Promo Video for your class/student group/business
-Any photographic project for an arts or graphic design class
There is also a green screen availible for use. A green screen is a cloth backdrop that is located within the labs. You will be able to shoot video or take pictures against the green screen and then import your own personal background in the editing phase. For example, you could take some pictures of someone hanging from a rope in front of the green screen, and then import a picture of a cliff in the editing phase, making it appear as though the subject is hanging off a cliff as opposed to standing in the middle of an editing room. This is just one example, as the possibilities are endless and should be tailored to your projects' needs. Though there is a variety of video/audio equipment and light kits at your disposal within the labs, you are free and welcome to bring in your own personal equipment to use during production along with anything else that you feel may enhance your project.
You can also use a green screen in conjunction with any photographic projects that you are working on, as well as just use the green screen as its own backdrop for your projects. A Media Specialist will be on-hand to assist you in setting up the green screen and giving a demonstration if desired. You will also be able to ask questions about either the production phase or editing phase of green screen production if you are unclear of anything. To view the green screen, click here.
Once you are done with the production phase of your project, you will be able to take advantage of the editing docks that are located within the same labs, enabling you to go through each phase of the project phase in one location, saving time and energy. Each workstation is equipped with Final Cut Pro, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, and Adobe Photoshop Suite.
In addition to the editing labs, there is a preview room equipped with enough seating for 8-10 people, allowing your group to preview your video/audio projects.
